College Essay Writing Service You Can Count On
College Essay Writing Service You Can Count On And youâre still wondering what topics to write about. Editing for grammatical errors and spelling mistakes is fine, but donât change the voice of the essay. If an essay is too âpolishedâ it may seem inauthentic, creating confusion in the reader. Make sure that you are confident in your essay and accept feedback, but donât allow others to change your essay in any way that will cause it to lose its original message. Parents should always help their child in a positive way as long as they are not writing the ideas for the student. Editing is vastly different from original writing so this needs to be clarified first, as it has to be the voice and personal memories of the applicant not the parent. Writing topics that will help your reader improve the quality of their lives are good things to write about. If this is a family member or close friend, a Google search may not yield much, but thatâs okay. If something about this personâs life has made a lasting impact on you, chances are, it will do the same for your readers. Why do writers seem to obsess over word count and page count? There are instances when youâre given an assignment, not by word count, but assigned by the number of pages. The sooner the family treats this as a team effort it will be much easier for the 12th grader to feel as though they are not alone in this process. My preference (and admissions officersâ) would be that parents are minimally involved in the essay. For example, âWrite a paper four pages long.â If you get an assignment to write four pages, one of the first questions that will likely come to mind is, âHow many words are in four pages? â If you need to figure out words per page, you can use a words per page calculator. Can someone explain to me why so many people are obsessed with word count and page count? If youâre a writer, shouldnât writing well be the most important thing? After writing your conclusion, you might think that you have completed your essay. Before you consider this a finished work, you must pay attention to all the small details. Your strongest points should be the first and last paragraphs within the body, with the others falling in the middle. It would be really great if you could help me spread these helpful writing tips to others. Would you be willing to send out some love to your friends and family? Please share these things to write about on your preferred social media platform. Keep a notebook or journal and pen close to your bed in case you wake up with an idea . Why is everything word count these days instead of page count? When I was in school when I was younger, all assignments were page count. And when youâve woken, give yourself some quiet time to reflect on your intention. Fear can influence our decision-making even while weâre book shopping. If you can help your reader face and overcome a fear â" especially one that affects their quality of life â" you have a book idea worth developing. If you love traveling and want to encourage your readers to go to a country youâve explored, why not write a book about it? You can even find and interview others whoâve traveled to the same places.

In fact, it was this continued fascination for hands-on science that brought me years later to the sauna that is the University of Alabama in mid-June. Participating in the Student Science Training Program and working in their lab made me feel like a kid in a candy store. Just the thought of participating in a project at this level of scientific rigor made me forget that this was supposed to be my summer break and I spent the first day eagerly examining every piece of equipment. They are from pursing her lips in an attempt to suppress the pain after my Papou was taken by the same merciless hands that took her daughter away, but this time, those hands looked like cancer. Students receive comprehensive notes and suggestions â" written directly on the document â" so the essay improves significantly with every draft. Reach out to professors/administrators at the school and department of your early schools with questions about the program you expect to apply to. Due to the University of Rochesterâs reputation for an extensive use of statistics in political science research, I would make a good addition to your fall class. While attending the University of Rochester, I would like to study international relations or comparative politics while in graduate school. I find the research of Dr.âs Hein Goemans and Gretchen Helmke intriguing and would like the opportunity to learn more about it through the Graduate Visitation program. In college, as I became more politically engaged, my interest began to gravitate more towards political science. While early on my professional ambitions were aimed towards the mental health field, later experiences have redirected me towards a career in academia. For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of science. During my tour of duty, I witnessed several shipmates suffer from various mental aliments. Driven by a commitment to serve and a desire to understand the foundations of psychological illness, I decided to return to school to study psychology. The winter of my seventh grade year, my alcoholic mother entered a psychiatric unit for an attempted suicide. Mom survived, but I would never forget visiting her at the ward or the complete confusion I felt about her attempt to end her life. Today I realize that this experience greatly influenced my professional ambition as well as my personal identity. Where others see the engineering, experimentation, and presentation of science as a chore, I only see excitement. Even as a child I constantly sought it out, first on television with Bill Nye and The Mythbusters, then later in person in every museum exhibit I could find. Science in all its forms fascinated me, but science projects in particular were a category all to themselves. To me, science projects were a special joy that only grew with time. As I got older, I realized that there are more worry lines than laugh lines. Deep trenches of lineaments cross her forehead, revealing the hardships of a childhood spent in poverty. The most recent are the lines chiseled around her thin mouth, as if out of marble. Meet with Alex one-on-one via video chat to talk about your son/daughterâs admissions plan. My statistical training in psychology orientates me toward a more quantitative graduate experience. The interest in serving and understanding people has never changed, yet I realized I could make a greater difference doing something for which I have a deeper passion, political science. The 4 years I spent in the Army cultivated a deep-seated passion for serving society. While in the Army, I had the great honor to serve with several men and women who, like me, fought to make a difference in the world.

Custom Writing And Editing Services Appreciating uniqueness and connecting to different characters augments my own maturity and depth. Despite our differences, Emily and I have a healthy relationship in which we are able to learn from one another; the acknowledgement of our individual value allows us to avoid bitterness. I strive to continue improving my ability to be comfortable with disagreement in order to learn more from my peers. I may not always send up agreeing with Emily, or other people I care about, but I should at least try to understand a different perspective. Only then can I create a bridge that connects two different ideas, allowing for a more harmonious world. I no longer say I canât do something, instead approaching challenges with the utmost confidence. If one plan falls short, I reassess and approach the wall from another angle. I am comfortable making decisions, even when I donât know what the outcome may be. Through this life-changing sport I have strengthened not only my body but also my mind, learning the beauty of problem solving. What Iâve realized though, is that I donât have to sacrifice all for one. From each of my interests I learn things that contribute to who I am and shape how I see the world. They are surrounded by different cultures and experiences. I donât necessarily have to find validity in everyoneâs viewpoints to at least listen to their reasoning. âThese people are just confused,â Emily whispered to me as she stared out the car window at the gay couples walking down the rainbow streets of the Castro. I was utterly offended by her statement, but I replied calmly, âLet people be who they are.â Emily and I grew up in Texas together as inseparable friends. For twelve years that was our beautiful home, and we enjoyed every moment together. If I am completely perplexed by a wall, I converse with other pro climbers to guide me towards the best route. Every time I interact with climbers better than myself, I learn a new technique and create new bonds. So, I try to listen with an open mind, even when that feels extremely difficult. Sometimes, pure adrenaline rushes through my body, making me want to bang my hands on the table out of complete anger towards an opinion. I have learned, though, that suppressing my emotional side during a time of disagreement and instead responding with calmness gets my point across more effectively. When that irritation begins to overtake my ability to concentrate on another personâs outlook, I always try to draw from my experiences of living both in the South and in the West. The best things about climbing is that there is no clear-cut way to climb a wall, and that there is always a new challenge. My climbing partners say that I take the most unorthodox routes when climbing, but ironically theyâre the most natural and comfortable paths for me. Being part of the rock climbing community has helped me develop my social skills. I donât have an answer to what exactly it is I want to do for the rest of my life. I love English and political science, but I have yet to find such an all-encompassing response as potatoes. I get lost in the walls and climb for hours, as time becomes irrelevant. I think of nothing else but reaching the last hold and forget all of my worries. Even when my friends beg to go home from fatigue, I insist on attempting another route. I donât feel Iâve had a sufficient climbing session until my forearms are pulsing and the skin on my fingertips are raw. At first, I was an impatient climber who would try and solve the wall before me, making split-second decisions. Last summer, Emily visited my new home of five years, San Francisco, for the first time. We still laughed until our faces turned tomato red. We still screamed our favorite Taylor Swift songs as if there was no tomorrow. Nothing could get in between the love we had for each other, even our vehemently opposing opinions. Patience, collaboration, and determination are all needed when climbing a wall, like in any field of research. However, this strategy rapidly tired me out after beginning to climb. Clearly, this method wasnât going to get the job done; I had to change my mindset. Now, when I approach a wall, I first draw the problem out in my mind, using my hands to examine the holds. Like a game of chess, I lay out an intricate plan of attack.

This should be the heart of your essay, as well as the meat and potatoes. Reading the schoolâs website is not a bad start, as it will give you a basic overview of whatâs on offer. Then take those terms and plug them right into Google, Youtube and Linkedin! Kids are quick to eliminate a prompt, but I always ask them to go back and rethink. Ask smaller questions around the prompt to get at exactly what you want to write about. The other subject to handle delicately is loss or tragedy. Tragedies, ultimately, can be very positive, transformative topics to write about as they often show us who we are under intense pressure. College Admissions Guide
College Admissions Guide I was never fully aware of how closely humans rely upon each other until I read The Fall of Freddy the Leaf by Leo Buscaglia in freshman year. The allegory is about a leaf that changes with the seasons, finally dying in the winter, realizing that his purpose was to help the tree thrive. After reading it, I was enlightened on the cycle of life and realized the tremendous impact my actions had on others. The exploration led me to the African Disease Prevention Project , a non-profit organization associated with several universities. I decided to create the first high school branch of the organization; I liked its unique way of approaching health and social issues. Rather than just raising money and channeling it through third parties, each branch âadoptsâ one village and travels there to provide for its basic needs. As branch president, I organize events from small stands at public gatherings to 60-person dinner fundraisers in order to raise both money and awareness. Iâve learned how to encourage my peers to meet deadlines, to work around 30 different schedules at once, and to give presentations convincing people why my organization is worth their donation. But overall, ADPP has taught me that small changes can have immense impacts. Using equipment that a high school student could only dream of using, I was able to map apoptosis versus necrosis in HeLa cells, a cervical cancer line, after treating them with curcumin-bound nanoparticles. Using flow cytometry to excite each individually suspended cell with a laser, the scattered light from the cells helped to determine which cells were living, had died from apoptosis or had died from necrosis. Using this collected data, it was possible to determine if the curcumin and/or the nanoparticles had played any significant role on the cervical cancer cells. For an eight paragraph essay, I write around 2,000-2,600 words on the document. Keep in mind your quotes too, you should have one quote per paragraph or two . I believe my purpose as a student is to encourage others to become active community members and motivate them to reach new heights. The Sonora Eagles were students of different grade levels, ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and educational ability. The most important moment occurred during the nightâs luminaria ceremony, during which cancer patients of the past and present were commemorated. Our whole team gathered around, and I asked people to share how they have been affected by cancer. The Sonora Eagles were my means for dealing with the death of my loved ones to cancer. My branch has helped raise almost $3,000 to build water sanitation plants, construct medical clinics, and develop health education programs in the small village of Zwedru. The difference between ADPP and most other organizations is its emphasis on the basics and making changes that last. Working towards those changes to solve real life problems is what excites me. So, I will forgive and forget, love and inspire, experience and satire, laugh and cry, accomplish and fail, live and die. This is how I want to live my life, with this optimistic attitude that every day is a second chance. All the time, we have the opportunity to renew our perspective on life, to correct our mistakes, and to simply move on. Like the phoenix I will continue to rise from the ashes, experienced and renewed. I will not waste time for my life is already in flux. Yet I've realized that life is fickler than I had imagined; it can disappear or change at any time. Several of my family members left this world in one last beating symphony; heart attacks seem to be a trend in my family. They left like birds; laughing one minute and in a better place the next. So, no matter how short your essay is, you should still need 3 paragraphs. If you are really for some reason writing a 100 word essay, then you should have one short sentence for both your introduction and conclusion. Paragraphs structure information into sub-topics, and they make your work easier to read and understand thanks to the structure they provide. Later, I was able to image cells in 4D through con-focal microscopy. From growing HeLa cells to trying to kill them with different compounds, I was able to gain the hands-on experience necessary for me to realize once again why I love science. This past summer, I had the privilege of participating in the University of Notre Dameâs Research Experience for Undergraduates program . On average for a five-paragraph essay, I write around 1, words. It really is up to the person though, I have a buddy who writes considerably less than I do, but is able to get his point across. What youâre taught is often a general rule to shoot for, not a rule set in concrete. Your teacher felt that 7 paragraphs was a good number for the essays you wrote for her, but it doesnât always have to be that way. My teachers always taught by eight paragraph essays, but five-paragraph essays normally lie precedent to the more advanced or larger essays. the general rule is that 3 paragraphs are minimum for an essay.

Professors use essays to evaluate not only your knowledge of a particular subject and topic, but also your writing talent and your ability to work with massive amounts of information. However, we also understand that there is a myriad of reasons why you canât complete a particular essay assignment. If youâre applying to 10 colleges and wait until two weeks before applications are due, youâre going to have a lot of writing to complete in a very short amount of time. My friend told me about Edubirdie because he has ordered an essay here. Now, I have to write a lot of essays because of them as I have been accepted to college after theyâve written a personal statement for me. Most of their writing has focused on what they have learned in school. Writing about ourselves at any age can seem awkward, boastful and deeply uncomfortable. It is hard to wade through this without some guidance.
How Important Is The College Essay?
How Important Is The College Essay? Put another way, would doing the writing help him at schools where it is âoptionalâ assuming his score is not great but not terrible? Your encouragement, ideas and overall support can go a long way in helping your students write their essays. Having at least one essay score is helpful in case a student decides to apply to a Required college, but it is unlikely to play a role at Optional colleges. My daughter is trying to get in as an out of state student to University of North Carolina and University of Michigan as her top 2 choices. She scored a 33 on ACT with a 6 writing, which she took because Michigan said it was required. She clearly wasnât prepared for the writing section, so she just took it again and scored a bit lower on her composite but the same on the essay. Also, we know that the 25th-75th percentiles scores at the most competitive colleges are 8-10, so your essay score should not be a concern. As much as I rail against the essay, I still recommend that students take it â" at least once. Your daughter didnât waste her time, she created some options. Policies on viewing essay results are all over the place at essay optional schools. Many admission officers would view it as a âplus factor.â Itâs wonderful that your daughter did so well. Thatâs why you should spend a fair amount of time getting the essay right. The essay is an integral and important part of the application process. For some students, it can make the difference between getting in or being deferred, or even of being rejected. In fact, many colleges will recalculate GPA based only on core subjects alone, such as math, science, English, social studies, foreign languages, etc. It's also recommended to take AP and honors classes, as an advanced curriculum is preferred to straight Aâs in less challenging courses. A good essay conveys not only who you are but how you express who you are! As such, the essay needs to be focused and well written. If you are honest and choose a topic close to your heart, you will be able to talk about it easilyâ"so it will be easy to write! And if it is honest and easy to write, and you have had someone check for errors, it will convey who you areâ"often in a way that is better than any transcript can convey. Then we went to a college fair and spoke to a Michigan Admissions Officer who said Michigan has decided NOT to require writing. She wants to apply to both as Early Action, but doesnât have time to retake ACT without writing for that deadline. Do you think reporting her 33 ACT with the poor writing score will hurt her at UNC or Michigan, even though they say it is not required, and UNC says it is discouraged? OR should we send her 1450 SAT without a writing score? They are so different that they canât really be compared. Emphasize to students the importance of writing an informed essay. For example, they should not write about a fantasy meeting with a famous artist and get the titles of the artistâs paintings wrong. Because that is the only way students have to âtell their story.â The essay reveals a great deal about you as a student. It may show what is important to you, how you react to events in life, how you solve problems, how you relate to others, and it might reveal something about your personality. In addition, it gives the admission office a great writing sample. Son is sophomore who will be taking the September ACT. He is not a great writer, does not like writing, and does not want to take the writing portion. He likely will score in the range and apply to a variety of schools (a couple top [sub-10% acceptance rate] privates and top publics, as well as some less competitive universities and colleges). Do you think lacking the writing score â" which likely would be average â" will hurt him? Keep in mind that every college is different and individual admission officers may be influenced by different factors. With that said, the Essay is dying a quick death. Most schools fall in the âjust donât careâ box at this point.

The 5 Biggest Mistakes In College Admissions Essays
The 5 Biggest Mistakes In College Admissions Essays Dr. Weaver snaps at Carol, telling her that if she is going to go to medical school, she has to stop thinking like a nurse. The implication in Dr. Weaver 's criticism is clear. This guide will explain how to write a 500-word scholarship essay. Join thousands of students & parents learning about finding the right college, admissions secrets, scholarships, financial aid, and more. Admissions officers tell us they read every essay. The number of reviewers reading the essays vary from school to school. Your essays are necessarily a reflection of your mind, and the admissions officers want to know that you have the âsoft skillsâ to excel in their program. At any point in time during your college education, youâll probably have one or more papers to write for your classes. Colleges would be irresponsible to offer you a place in their program if you do not have the basic skills needed to succeed. My own experiences with hospitals as well as the experiences of friends of mine seem unanimous on this. Nurses were great, and if you were lucky you got a doctor with a decent bedside manner. Nurses worry about the feelings of people, while doctors worry about seeing the next patient or about developing enough distance emotionally so that they can move quickly from one medical crisis to another. Nurses, a profession dominated by women, are the ones who are supposed to soothe over any hurts caused by a too abrupt or too uncaring doctor. But for the most part, the professionals who really looked after loved ones were nurses. Part of this is likely the result of the different roles nurses and doctors play within the hierarchy of the hospital. Depending on how it is that you write, you may use this list in one of two ways. This is something you are familiar with from high school writing. While Carol is uncomfortable with this, she does perform well. Her skill at those procedures seems to make the point that nurses who excel at their profession are as skilled as doctors in some ways. However, later in the episode, when a mother 's young child dies, Carol insists on giving the parent time with the child to grieve, rather than moving her out of the room to make way for incoming patients. Vocational training within the applied sciences tends to be much more about apprenticeship than about theoretical knowledge. When Carol Hathaway, a long time ER nurse, decides to go back to med school and become a doctor, the MDs in the ER treat her very differently. Dr. Kerry Weaver asks her to perform procedures as if she were already a med student. If our thesis was that cell phones should NOT be controlled in college, we would explain the dangers of not having access to cell phones. During your scholarship applications, you may need to submit a 500-word essay answering a specific question. The theme of the essay can range from personal achievements to political controversies. This means you can adjust your writing style to fit the message of the prompt. We explain that colleges need to adapt their rules to fit the needs of their students. Yet still, confirm that cell phone use policies should be enforced. You donât want to write an entire essay only to find out you were completely off topic. Notice how our conclusion was definitive but optimistic.

For those who need a general rule of thumb, a typical page which has 1-inch margins and is typed in 12 point font with standard spacing elements will be approximately 500 words when typed single spaced. For assignments that require double spacing, it would take approximately 250 words to fill the page. I donât think I should have to write more words just because mine happen to be shorter than my classmates. We both wrote the same number of words, his are just longer so it takes up more pages. That means people who write long words have an advantage even though long words arenât always good to use. Just because an estimate wonât be exactly right doesnât mean it isnât useful. For an assignment that requires you to write four pages, you can make the estimation that youâll need to write approximately 2000 words for a single spaced paper, or 1000 words if the assignment is double spaced. Again, the type of font used can make the word count higher or lower, but itâs a good rule of thumb for those who are simply looking for a general estimation. The truth is there is no definitive answer to this question. The number of words it will take to fill a page will depend on a number of factors including the type of font used, the font size, spacing elements, the margins used on the paper, the paragraph length, etc. For example, if the assignment says the writing should be in 10-point font, itâs going to take a greater number of words to fill a page than if the assignment requires a 12-point font. For those who are looking for a basic rough idea, this is helpful. I only need to write 250 words and you donât have how many pages that is on your list. If you are given a writing assignment with a page number, the best thing to do is go directly to the person who made the assignment and ask for a word count. This will take away all the variations and help ensure your writing assignment meets expectations. yes, it is ok as long as an essay of their child reflects the inner world of the child, not that of parents. yes, it is ok as long as an essay of their child reflects inner world of the child, not that of parents.

For example, at The University of Tampa, the question, âHow do you feel about the month of February? â rarely results in a boring application essay and can go in numerous directions. In fact, many schools have cool, offbeat essay questions that really provide you with the opportunity to present the admissions committee with new insight as to who you are. Go out on a limb and take a stab at the question that helps you paint a unique and compelling self-portrait. One way to do that is to work step-by-step, piece-by-piece. The end result should be a carefully designed, insightful essay that makes you proud. And if your dream school presents you with some of the old standards, remember to approach the subject from the most unique angle you can. You definitely want to prioritize the remainder of your applications here. Your top priority schools should be worked on first so that you have more time to work on/perfect them. If you have a long college list, you have a lot more work to do and you can easily fall victim to overconfidence. Procrastination + the unfounded belief that youâll definitely get into Penn for Early Decision is a recipe for disaster. The only thing holding applicants back from REALLY putting the pedal to the metal is the fact that many schools donât release their updated essay prompts until August. Every college applicant will have varying essay workloads, depending on their college list. Students with high aspirations for top colleges should be prepared to write A LOT of essays. No matter how much work you put into a paragraph or much you like a phrase, if they aren't adding to your essay, they need to be cut or altered. You think of ideas and how you are going to portray them in your work. Reading sample papers and examples is a great help to create a good essay. This level of thoroughness may seem like overkill, but it's worth taking the time to ensure that you don't have any errors. The last thing you want is for an admissions officer to be put off by a typo or error. Initial details will bore your audience and they will definitely lose interest in reading your entire essay. The best way of doing it is to start the essay from the middle of the story. It could be an anecdote, life event, incident, or just a life experience. Start your essay keeping in mind the main focus and shape your essay around it. Is it explicitly stating what the application demanded? The essay is the source through which you tell everything about yourself. However, the writing should not be very personal, like including information about family members.

Argumentative essays are often emphatic, where the least important points are presented first and build up to the most important. A counselor may provide insights into your personal life, and a teacherâs recommendation will detail how youâre viewed in the classroom. And here you thought essays were just painful exercises. Iâve read for several institutions, two testing agencies, and various scholarship competitions. Conservatively, Iâd say Iâve looked at more than 10,000 essays by now. I wouldnât be surprised if itâs more, and I know plenty of people on my staff and around the country who put that number to shame. Each full draft also had a number of smaller edits. In the end, she was able to tie her creative process making origami to her academic interests,â Richardson wrote in an email. Antigone has become my favorite book because it wraps political and legal theory around complex characters and a compelling narrative. Prior to reading Antigone , I assumed that if I hadnât read every book that pertained to the architecture of US government, I had at least heard of them. Antigone proved this assumption wrong because Antigone itself was a case study in the actual consequences of ideas discussed by political philosophers. Last week I talked to a high school senior as a favor to a friend. The student is not applying to Georgia Tech, so I was giving him general application advice. âOrigami isnât a typical topic for a college essay, but, beyond that, she showed us rather than told us about her process of making objects that didnât always turn out how she expected or wanted. It helps us to see her as someone who would be willing to jump into new experiences on our campus. What also stands out here is the imagery she uses to get her point across â" I could picture the crumpled pieces of paper on her floor and the frustration that she felt. They were the most popular people in school, in direct contrast to all that was socially acceptable in New Haven. Our peers recognized them as being unique, but instead of ostracizing them or pitying them, the students in Berkeley celebrated them. Originality is celebrated there â" not in the half-hearted âgood for youâ way, but in the full-throated âGOOD FOR YOU! One of the first of my fellow students to befriend me wore corset tops and tutus and carried a parasol with which she punctuated her every utterance. Her best friend was a boy with purple hair who once wore a shirt with built in LED lights for Christmas. In other words, Antigonehumanized the esoteric and function-driven debates Iâd studied last year. Finishing the play, I was ashamed that Iâd harbored such skepticism at the outset of my reading. My experience with Antigone reminds me why I get excited each time I use calculus in physics or art in cooking, and I look forward to a lifetime of making these connections. âThe essay is a space for us to see that come to life. The committee isnât looking for any one thing in particular because part of what is so telling is what the student felt was important to share about themselves in that space,â Kim says. Do's and Don'ts for your College Application Essay What are the worst mistakes you can make on your college application essay? Thus, you should be able to demonstrate your writing skills in such a short paper. Strong verbs, not adjectives and adverbs, will make your admissions essay come to life. Take the time to read over all your essays carefully and keep an eye out for things like âoutâ when you meant to say âourâ and other common typos. Have a parent or counselor read over the essay, too, to catch any errors you might have missed. Spelling and grammar errors can take away from an otherwise stellar essay â" so be mindful. When developing a topic that reveals something new, find a way to frame the story or idea that shows a slice of your life or the event. Be descriptive and give details that appeal to the senses â" taste, touch, smell, etc. Unlike the other parts of the application, where high grade point averages and SAT scores reign supreme, the essay is less about being impressive than it is about being authentic. It was right there in the last sentence of the first paragraph of Mikeyâs college essay. I was supposed to believe this typical high school senior, who had inhabited this planet for a slight 17 years, chose to use the word âhenceforth.â Mikey was a good kid. Itâs certainly possible and often effective to begin your essay with a description that piques interest without necessarily revealing exactly what the description is about. But while enticing and intriguing are good, bewildering and unintelligible are not. You may have a beautifully crafted essay or a wonderful story to tell, but if you donât take the time to proofread, your essay may be overlooked and end up in the rejection pile. When writing about a meaningful experience or event, you donât have to give a long timeline of events. Instead, give the reader the piece of the puzzle that conveys your message. The college essay length requirements differ among universities. Some students try so hard to be creative, or to entice the reader with a sense of intrigue, that they sacrifice clarity. If your reader is one paragraph in and thinking, âI donât have a clue what this student is talking about,â youâve moved from arousing interest to creating confusion. Good essays are always quite personal without being sentimental. Another very simple tip, but many of the less compelling essays we read each year fail to focus. Think about the special nugget of information you want the reader to know about you at the end of your essay and write with that central theme in mind. Finally, colleges can use the essay to begin picturing how youâll connect with and make the most of resources within their specific campus communities.
